You Don’t Need Another Strategy, You Need to Finally Pick One

If you’ve been in this business for a while and still haven’t seen the traction you expected, there’s a good chance it’s not because you haven’t learned enough.

Most notaries I talk to have read the articles, watched the videos, maybe even invested in a few courses with certifications. They’re not lacking information. What they’re missing is a clear decision about which path they’re actually going to commit to.

There was a time when most of the calls I did were traditional coaching calls. This is what most of our coaching calls would focus on:

We’d get on the phone, talk through your situation, unpack your goals, work through what might be holding you back, and explore different directions you could take.

And those conversations felt productive. You’d leave with a clearer understanding of what you wanted and what might be possible.

But over time, I started to notice a pattern..

It usually took multiple calls… multiple conversations… to turn that clarity into anything actionable.

And in between those calls, not much changed, because insight doesn’t automatically translate into execution.

At some point, I had to be honest about what was actually helping people move forward and what was just making them feel like they were making progress.

So I changed the way I do these calls.

Now when I get on the phone with someone, it’s not a coaching conversation.

It’s a consultation.

We’re not there to explore every possibility or unpack every internal block.

We’re there to make decisions.

I’m going to ask you what your financial target is. A real number that we can reverse-engineer into daily accountability.

I’m going to look at what you already have in place: your commission, your certifications, your current capabilities, and figure out what you can use right now to generate income.

Then we narrow it down.

Out of everything available to you, what path gets you to that goal the fastest?

Not the most interesting.

Not the one that feels the safest.

Definitely not the “shiniest.”

The one that produces results.

You don’t need more options. You need to eliminate them.

From there, we build it out:

  1. Who do you need to be in front of?

  2. How are you going to reach them?

  3. What does your follow-up look like?

  4. Who in your existing network can open doors for you?

  5. Where should you actually be spending your time to meet the right people?

  6. And when someone looks you up online, what are they going to find?

By the end of that conversation, you don’t just have ideas, you have a plan.

Clear. Direct. Actionable.

And more importantly, it’s based on what’s already within your reach, not something you have to go out and build later. You hang up the phone and get to work. And then you know exactly what to do every single morning until you have the results you want.

Instead of chasing four different specialties, we pick one, target the right people, and within 30 to 60 days of focused execution, you start to see real traction.

This shift in my call approach happened for a reason.

After years in this industry, working with notaries at every level, I’ve seen that the biggest gap isn’t knowledge.

It’s not a lack of courses.

It’s not a lack of information.

It’s not even a lack of opportunity.

It’s a lack of committed, consistent execution on a clear path.

What I see more often than anything else is this cycle:

  • Dabbling-trying a little of everything.

  • Changing direction too quickly.

  • Looking for a better strategy instead of working on the one that already makes sense.

  • Waiting for clarity or “readiness” instead of creating it through action.

It feels like progress, because you FEEL busy all the time, but it keeps you exactly where you are, just busier.

At some point, that has to change.

You have to choose a direction.

You have to stay with it long enough to see what actually happens.

Clarity doesn’t come before action… It comes from it.

And you have to do the work that puts you in front of real people who can hire you.

There isn’t a version of this business that works without that.

So no, I don’t do coaching calls anymore.

I don’t want to just help you think about your business.

I want to help you build one.

And that requires something more direct, more focused, and a lot more honest about what it actually takes.
