Shared experiences like networking events, live training, workshops, conferences, travel, and even online gatherings, create deeper bonds and forge the beginnings of tomorrow’s great collaborations and innovations.
Plus, they can be fun and educational.
If you commit to attending just five notary peer events every year, your business, life, and network will experience limitless expansion.
These events have the potential to mold relationships that can change everything for you.
Sometimes, it’s the content being delivered.
Sometimes, it’s a single idea sparked by simply being in the room, full of energy and possibility.
And sometimes it’s the person sitting next to you.
You never know what kind of magic can happen when you show up and participate.
That’s why peer events are so much more than “feel-good” opportunities. They’re catalysts for growth, collaboration, and connection.
When notaries come together, we find our people.
We share challenges and insights.
We learn from one another’s mistakes.
We celebrate each other’s wins.
And often, we discover creative ways to support one another that ripple out into real business results.
Here’s what I mean:
A trusted notary peer can fill in for you when you’re unavailable.
They can serve as witnesses during your estate planning appointments.
They can offer complementary services like apostilles, I-9s, or wedding officiating, so you can remain the hero resource to your clients without stretching yourself thin.
They can refer you for opportunities that don’t fit their own lane.
Peer connections can save you time, increase your reach, and strengthen your reputation.
And if you’re thinking, “Well, I can’t afford to travel right now,” don’t let that stop you. Online events can serve you just as well, IF you engage intentionally.
Join virtual gatherings like Talk About It Tuesday with Judi Lawrence & Crew, Tuesday Notary Titans with Laura Biewer and Jen Neitzel, or show up to any of the free online trainings I offer (Check them out HERE).
Ask good questions. Participate in chat. Be generous with your insights. Then follow up and connect with someone after the session for a quick Zoom or coffee chat. Those extra measures, and invitations, are what transform a random attendee list into a network of allies.
Sidenote: Beware of simply sitting on Zoom calls under the guise of learning. Either learn something and implement immediately, or connect with your peers or instructors in a meaningful way. If you can't commit to that, there is likely a better use of your time.
Your mission this week: make a list of five events that intrigue you.
Get them on your radar. Add them to your calendar. Commit to showing up.
It only takes one person or idea to change everything for you.
And it probably won’t happen while you’re sitting alone in your office, waiting for business to come to you. It’ll happen when you step into the right room, real or virtual, and make a meaningful connection.
That’s where possibility begins.
I’ll be in LA for the Notary Public Day celebration with Judi Lawrence this weekend, as well as in Orlando in May for the National Notary Association’s annual conference.
