The first thing you will want to know is that EVERY state is different when it comes to their requirements for becoming a Notary Public. In addition to that, EVERY state has different rules about what a Notary Public can and cannot do. Don't let the fact that it is easy to become a Notary fool you into believing this role doesn't matter. The Notary Public is often the last line of defense against identity theft and mortgage fraud. I love this question! I once dreamed of being a "vagabond" notary, traveling from state to state, notarizing out of my RV. Unfortunately, state laws prohibit that to some extent. Still, Some states may allow you to hold multiple notary commissions. You must check the laws of each state you wish to be commissioned in. There are many states that allow it IF you meet certain criteria.
